Group classes are unavailable because of very little demand. Delhi Dance Academy has decided to scrap the group classes. If you are a group of 6 or more people, then we can start a group class. Group class timings can be set up according to your preference. Classes will be 3 times in a week. For group classes, the price is Rs 2000 per person per month. For a group of 6, you get a 20% discount making the fee Rs 1600 per person per month. Group Yoga classes in Gurgaon are available!

What exactly is power yoga and how is it different from traditional yoga?

Just like Zumba is a more advanced and improvised form of aerobics, similarly power-yoga is an improvised form of traditional yoga as we know it in India. It is also known as gym yoga and is for those who aren’t really satisfied with just the stretching and breathing exercises that traditional or vinyasa/ashtanga yoga offers, we have now brought what’s a rage in the west – Power Yoga. Power yoga consists of “asanas” that are harder, help in building muscle and reduce weight. Power yoga isn’t completely different from the traditional Indian yoga, it is just a more advanced version.

Although Birch and Kest are popularly believed to have brought power yoga to the west after learning it from Shri Krishna Pattabhi Jois, every teacher has his/her own style of teaching power yoga.

You’re welcome to come, visit our studio, have a trial class and then decide if you want to join. Trial classes are for Rs 300.

  • Hi, will power yoga help me in gaining weight?

    • Dear Payal, Power yoga gives you a fit body. There’s no guarantee of weight gain I’m afraid. Increasing muscle mass would increase weight which power yoga helps in, but cannot be guaranteed.

    • Hey Kriti! We will start our centers very soon somewhere in Rohini or Pitampura.

    I wanted to know whether we have any classes on weekend?

      Unfortunately we are not running any weekend fitness classes as people wants to do these classes on regular basis.But you can join our other classes like bollywood,salsa,hip hop,contemporary,guitar.We do have batches on weekends as well for these classes.

          Dear Sahil, apologies for the late reply. Actually when you see newer enquiries being answered, that is usually because the officer doesn’t accurately know the answer to your question. This is a self ownen Delhi Dance Academy center not a franchise and here we take classes for all dance forms.

          We are very close to Kailash Colony metro station. From here, you just need to get a cycle rickshaw to Tagore International school and then follow the lane with the Maruti Suzuki Showroom.

  • Hi I am overweight, I am sure that yoga will help me out but I am not flexible at all. Though I want to loose weight but I undergo a lot of pain every time I try exercising..please advise what kind of yoga or dance can be suitable for a beginner.

    • Ruchika, it will hurt initially but as you go on, the pain will subside as long as it is not because of an injury. You can try starting with Power Yoga which is appropriate for a beginner. Give me a call to book a trial class. Regards Arjun 9910222770.

    I am a working woman,presently on leave for a month.l want to join power yoga to get toned and also to reduce abdominal fat which i have acquired after 2 pregnancies.i have not done yoga ever in my life.can i join yr course for a month? Can i do it at home later after i join back work?

  • Hi Arjun my problem is that I’m a student and I cant get time for myself. Please can you tell how much weight I will lose in 1 month because I’ve become so fat these days.

    • Kavita, you can expect to lose roughly 2 kgs per month, but it cannot be said for sure, as it depends from person to person. Some lose less, some lose way more. Having said that, power yoga is good for yuor health and is something you must join to stay fit in general also! Regards

    • Dear Neha, on average people lose upto 2 kgs per month doing power yoga, but this is not guaranteed, it depends on your body and various other factors. Some people lose way more also. Dr Narula, who is the power yoga teacher is also a doctor and you can pay Rs 1000 extra for diet counselling where you’ll get 4 sittings. That will further improve the kgs that you lose doing Power Yoga. Best regards

    • Hi Sonia, to make your career in this field, you need to be a master of the discipline and therefore you will need to do level a, b and c for 9 months before you can start taking yoga classes and become a yoga trainer yourself.   • Hi, I want to do power yoga but I’d like to know first, do I need to have some basic yoga experience to do power yoga?

    • Hello Huda, power yoga is muscle exercises mixed with conventional yoga stretches and breathing techniques.

      You DON’T need to have any knowledge of yoga at all to enroll for this course, our qualified instructor will train you from scratch :)

Can't decide between the gym and dancing to lose that extra weight or to stay fit in general? Here's a list of dance forms taught at Delhi Dance Academy with the average calories burnt in 1 hour:

Zumba: 500-1000
Aerobics: 500-800
Jazz Contemporary: 400-600
Bharatnatyam: 400-600
Hip-Hop: 350-550

These numbers vary with your body weight and the amount of effort you put in.

How can I lose weight?
You lose weight when you consume or burn more calories than you take. Burning 3500 calories means you lose 1 lbs or 450 grams (almost half a Kilo) of weight.

In other words, if you cut 500 calories from your diet each day or burn 500 calories working out or dancing, you would lose 0.45 kgs in a week. :)
