Children are an essential part of Delhi Dance Academy and we’ve always been known for quality kids’ dance education.

Children of the ages of 4-12 years are allowed in DDA’s children’s batches. Children who are 3 years + can sometimes be admitted only after an audition where we try to judge whether the child will be able to cope with the batch. The child’s body-music co-ordination is judged and if found okay, the child can be admitted in the children’s batch.

Dance type taught: Bollywood freestyle

Bollywood freestyle is a dance form where we teach steps of bollywood dance coupled with steps from Indian folk dances, hip-hop and exercise based steps taken from aerobics or school based PT (Physical Training) like jumping, marching etc. in some cases.

Why must your child start dancing early?

Children who learn dance in groups benefit in the following ways:

1. They learn to follow directions
2. They learn to co-operate with each other, work in a team
3. They interact both physically and verbally with each other
4. They develop better body-music co-ordination, rhythm sense and balance
5. They learn how to control their bodies better
6. They develop confidence to perform in public once they perform at a DDA event
7. They’re able to dance solo when offered to dance in family functions etc.
8. They learn to action without their parents guidance
9. They learn new dance forms and understand 4,8 and 16 beat patterns
10. They get the regular exercise that their bodies need and are healthier
11. They feel relaxed and have fun – dancing is a proper workout for the body and mind
12. Kids who dance regularly are happier and better behaved

  • Dear Team,

My daughter Saiesha is only 23 months old and she will complete her 2nd birthday next month i.e. on December the 16th. What I want to know is whether can she take admission in your class; I know she is too small for dancing but as a parent I can see her passion for dance. She enjoys music and dance. I stay in Praladhpur, kindly suggest me whether she can join the class or I should I wait for one year at least.

    • Dear Poonam, 2 years is a very young age and kids at this age are still learning to control their body movements. It would be too early and I would recommend you wait until she’s 4 years old. Until then, let her enjoy dancing and moving to the music. Best regards
      Arjun

  • Hello,
My daughter is 3 yrs old. She is interested in dancing and singing. When she watches or listen any song then she repeats that in her senses. we want to teach her dance but she is a shy girl . she never act in front of anyone. what do I do?

    Thanks.

    • Hi Smita! It is really gud that she started these activities at this early stage :)
Initially everyone feel shy and nervous to face people while dancing or singing, but by the time after practising all become fine and confident.
So I think you should make her try few classes. Presently we are conducting only dancing classes. For singing also she should start learning somewhere.
We have 3 options for her to learn dance.

Dance Away that Flab

Can't decide between the gym and dancing to lose that extra weight or to stay fit in general? Here's a list of dance forms taught at Delhi Dance Academy with the average calories burnt in 1 hour:

Zumba: 500-1000
Aerobics: 500-800
Jazz Contemporary: 400-600
Bharatnatyam: 400-600
Hip-Hop: 350-550
Belly dance: 250-450
Bollywood: 300
Salsa: 200-300

These numbers vary with your body weight and the amount of effort you put in.

How can I lose weight?
You lose weight when you consume or burn more calories than you take. Burning 3500 calories means you lose 1 lbs or 450 grams (almost half a Kilo) of weight.

In other words, if you cut 500 calories from your diet each day or burn 500 calories working out or dancing, you would lose 0.45 kgs in a week. :)

At Delhi Dance Academy we can also talk to you about your daily diet and recommend changes to help you lose weight.

Delhi Dance Academy has been featured on 24 x 7 News Channel as one of Delhi's best dance institutes. We have made recent appearances on TV Channels like BBC, Aajtak, E TV, NHK World, MTv and NDTV Goodtimes. We are among the top 50 activities to do while in Delhi by TripAdvisor with excellent reviews.
