A 2 Hour Dance Workshop Designed for Foreigners and Travellers (Now With Excellent Reviews on Trip Advisor!)

NOW with and  , Delhi has another tourist attraction...

The Namaste India Dance Workshop for Expats and Tourists by Delhi Dance Academy!

(formerly the Incredible India Dance Workshop)

LOVE DANCING? For tourists who are looking to gain an insight into the Indian dance scene or who generally want to have fun dancing for 2 hours, this is a “must do” to get introduced to 4 new Indian dance forms and get a video recorded in full Bollywood attire to take away as a souvenir. Details: This special workshop is designed for tourists who are travelling in and exploring India and is called “The Namaste India Dance Workshop”. It is a 2 hour crash course on 4 different Indian dances where we teach our guests Bollywood, Bhangra, Belly Dance and Garbha with Dandiya(an Indian folk dance). We teach each form for about 25 mins which covers about 30 seconds of choreography on a popular song. We then record a 2 minute video with you performing all 4 dance forms and upload as a private video (a video that can be only viewed by you) on Youtube for you to watch and share when you go back home.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Do I need dance experience to participate in the workshop or do I need to be a good dancer?Answer: No, the dance workshop is for everyone and the intention is to give you an insight into the history and styles of dance forms that originated in India. We design the choreography based on your ability to pick up moves. The instructors are good at gauging what would be doable for you and will teach you moves that you will be able to do in the 25 mins. You don’t need prior dance experience, but having good body-music coordination (where you can follow the beat) is important.
  2. How do I book? Answer: To book, simply call us on 09910222770 (Arjun) or on 09953835088 (Anant) or 09811555359 (Ishani). We will check studio availability on your preferred date and confirm the booking. You can also give any special requirements at the time of booking. If booking is not immediate, you can also email us on info@delhidanceacademy.in with your preferred dates.
  3. How many people minimum and maximum please? Answer: Minimum 1 person, maximum 15 people (because of limited studio space). For very large groups, please call and discuss as we will need to hire an external venue to conduct the workshop and will incur extra charges.
  4. Which locations can I take the Namaste India Workshop at? Answer: We have 2 locations – Amar Colony, New Delhi and Sushant Lok 1, Gurgaon. For big groups, we can do workshops at hotels and other external venues for which we charge extra for travel.

Dance Away that Flab

Can't decide between the gym and dancing to lose that extra weight or to stay fit in general? Here's a list of dance forms taught at Delhi Dance Academy with the average calories burnt in 1 hour:

Zumba: 500-1000
Aerobics: 500-800
Jazz Contemporary: 400-600
Bharatnatyam: 400-600
Hip-Hop: 350-550
Belly dance: 250-450
Bollywood: 300
Salsa: 200-300

These numbers vary with your body weight and the amount of effort you put in.

How can I lose weight?
You lose weight when you consume or burn more calories than you take. Burning 3500 calories means you lose 1 lbs or 450 grams (almost half a Kilo) of weight.

In other words, if you cut 500 calories from your diet each day or burn 500 calories working out or dancing, you would lose 0.45 kgs in a week. :)

At Delhi Dance Academy we can also talk to you about your daily diet and recommend changes to help you lose weight.

Delhi Dance Academy has been featured on 24 x 7 News Channel as one of Delhi's best dance institutes. We have made recent appearances on TV Channels like BBC, Aajtak, E TV, NHK World, MTv and NDTV Goodtimes. We are among the top 50 activities to do while in Delhi by TripAdvisor with excellent reviews.
